What a pain in the ...! After my retrieval line came loose from the steaming light wire while pulling the old wiring out I spent the rest of today trying to get the new wire back into the mast.
Luckily, the retrieval line for the masthead light held so it was fairly easy to get the new wire up to the top of the mast.
In trying to get the steaming light wire back up the mast without a retrieval line I was able to get a fish tape down to the bottom of the mast so I could at least attach the wire to that. The problem I had was after I got masthead wire to the top of the mast I could not get the new steaming light wire up to it's hole in the mast. I could get it halfway and then it would hangup or jam. After spending three or four hours trying to get it in I finally pulled some of the masthead wire back down the mast and tried pulling both wires up the mast at the same time (I had done that in the beginning but it didn't work). The second time it worked like a charm!
After all this I decided to replace the masthead light and steaming light. Trying to save some power I bought a Dr. LED LED light bulb ($49.95 at West Marine!!!)and tried to use it in the Aqua Signal Series 25 masthead fixture but it would not seat properly. It did fit in the steaming light fixture and I figured it would be used there more than the anchor light anyway.
So now all I have to do is put the deck plug on the lower end of the wire, test the wiring and fixtures to be sure they work , and then raise the mast.
Hopefully I can get all that done tomorrow!
BTW, sometime back we were discussing whether the original steaming light/deck light had a lense protecting the bulb in the deck light portion of the fixture. My new fixture (same as the original) does NOT have a lense protecting the bulb.

I purchased a Dr. LED Series 25 LED Bulb, but have not replaced the original bulb yet. Are you saying you could not get it to work in the anchor light?
It did not fit properly between the connectors and would not stay in place and/or make contact on both ends.
I just left the OEM bulb in the anchor light. I put the Dr. LED bulb in the steaming light and it fit perfectly. As I mentioned, I will be using the steaming light much more than the anchor light anyway.

Wow, that's discouraging. That bulb is advertised as being made for that fixture. I hope mine fits, I wanted to cut down on the amp hours while anchoring overnight.
I originally bought the bulb because it said it was made for the Series 25 fixture and I was trying to cut down on amps also. I probably could have gotten it to work but since it was going to be at the top of the mast and it didn't just snap right in place I figured it would give me problems and I would still not have a working light.
At least if it gives me a problem at the steaming light I can get to it fairly easy and not have to drop the mast again. It did snap firmly into the steaming light fixture.
I'll probably get more for the bow and stern lights but not at West Marine.
