Hey Folks,

I do a lot of single handed sailing.

At times, I need to leave the tiller for a quick minute to tend to something (raising / lowering the sails, playing with the radio etc)

Any suggestions on how to tame the tiller for a short (2-5 minute window)

Simple - bungee cords or lines holding the tiller port and starboard
Less simple - Tiller Tamer
Least simple - electronic autopilot

The boat sails straight the best close-hauled. On a reach or a run the first two may not work so well.

I like the bungee cords. The elasticity gives them better grip than plain lines. I connect them to the hasps on the lockers on either side of the cockpit. I take 3 or 4 wraps around the tiller. That's enought to hold it when you want but also allows the tiller to be used manually as needed.
