any know where I can get the snap clip that goes through the hole of the rudder hinges, or do I just use cotter pins,
would rather have a quick release to remove it

I have a fastpin that came with Pearl, but I lost confidence in them after my boom came loose - the standing rigging had them too, but they were immediately replaced with proper pins and circlips. The boom now has a safety wired bolt and nut. The tiller now has a spring clip from Lowe's; I think it is 1/8" - secure and easy to pull out.

I'm thinking your could find a clip like the one shown here...

The one shown is for a trailer hitch receiver pin, but a smaller one should make a reliable quick release for your pintle.
