Thanks for the kind words... I learned so much from this site that I really like sharing my newly - well sometimes - acquired knowledge.
To answer your question, the anchor basically sets/buries itself during the five minutes. Really does. I remember what I learned from our old marina commodore. They pulled the mushrooms - moorings - every year and reinstall - and would put a small boat on the mooring to rock it in place. It'll sink and hold, but a little gentle help speeds up the process. Same with anchoring, drop the hook, let the vessel tighten up on maybe a 3/1 then play out some more. Harden up at the 5/1 and then adjust to where you wanna be. This method guarantees that the chain et al hasn't fouled the anchor and that you have actually dug it in 3 times before you back down on it. Also, if it doesn't hold at the 3/1 you'll know it and be able to adjust or at minimum have less to haul back in.
Anchoring IS my favorite challenge. It's kinda like sailing 24/7... You are in touch with the elements, you have an idea of what the weather will do, and you are mentally prepared to deal with it - round the clock if need be. Better yet, it's the last bastion of free anything anywhere! Setting anchor alarm.
