Our Honda 9.9 outboard is running great.....then without warning cuts out(shuts off). This happens whether running at full throttle of half throttle. The engine performs at low idle without a problem. Replaced vented gas cap and cleaned carb. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance!
If there is a bad seal on the fuel line disconect it can lose its prime. If the line was instaled backwards it can suck the primer ball so hard it will stop. If the fuel line is old replace it. Otherwise take it in and have the ignition circuit checked as well as the coil. Oh and have you had a look at the kill switch to see if its defective.
Thanks for the help, my next step is to change the gas line and in line fuel filter. The fuel line disconnect looks okay but if I replace line I will also rplace the disconnect. Did not think about the kill switch, everyone I speak with thinks it is fuel related. Engine starts fine and shuts off without any problem.....but it is something else I will look at.
