Well, started at gas tank emptied, cleaned, and replaced all gas lines and fuel connectors. Replaced gas cap, cleaned carbuerator for second time and replaced fuel filter. Put new spark plugs in and started her up with confidence.....ten minutes out of the marina the engine cut out again. Started up fine, runs without a hitch and without warning cuts out. It seems to happen more at full throttle than any other throttle setting. After cutting out a few times it ran for about an hour with no problem. May take to dealer to have serviced, we are taking a trip in a few weeks, need that confidence in the engine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
One advantage a dealer has: If you describe your symptoms in detail, he (or his mechanic) has probably heard the same thing before. Your experience is with one engine--his is with many. When your guesses aren't doing the job, experience will probably be worth the price.

Thanks for the advice, the engine is in the car as we speak and on its way to the doc. I'll know in a few days what the damage is. Worth it in the long run, only have a few weekends left in the season.
To all that helped, thank you,the engine is back on the boat and we tested for about 1 hour yesterday. We had no problems and it did not cut out.Wanted to run it longer but there were 10-15mph winds that we could not ignore. Enjoyed a great day with sails up and returned to mooring without a problem. The "doc" replaced the CDI unit.....so far it appears to have solved the problem. Looks like rain in the forecast for today so its a good day to test again.
The CDI unit sits on top of the ignition coil, and attaches to top of the engine. It is a sealed unit which is transistorized. I'm not sure of its function but might regulate spark?? Now you know why the engine went to the Doc! I will know better after this weekend whether I am home free. We are leaving Wednesday for a short end of the season trip....so fingers are crossed.
