I'm a big guy, but I find that more than four adults in the cockpit is . . . not good. People really don't want to stay in the cabin while sailing, the foredeck isn't the safest place to be, people on the coach roof risk decapitation during a tack.
Then again, I'm an introvert who most enjoys sailing alone . . .
I always have 1 or 2 who prefer the foredeck, and I agree that 4 in the cockpit is most comfortable, but five works OK if nobody is too big and I can shake off my old sitting to windward habit.
