Does anybody know a good, safe way to clean the sails. Have some hornets nest stains and other accumulated grunge. RonE

A couple of years ago I sent a set of sails from my O'Day to Sailcare and was very happy with the job they did. I had nasty stains from long storage with leaves and other things. I'm sending my main there this winter.

Thanks for the input but would like to clean my sails myself. Anybody have suggestions what to use that will not otherwise harm the sails.

Ron,
I have cleaned mine in a 50 gal trash can. I filled up the can 3/4 of the way and put in the sail. A small child is the key, but I guess that you could get in there. I soaked mine for 3 days then put it out on the close line to dry. You can add a small amount of oxyclean - For harder stains I make a paste with the oxyclean scrub into the sail using a har brush, then do the soaking.

If anything it will clean out your trash can -

If you have a large two car driveway (or your vacationing neighbor has one) than just lay it out with a hose, scrub brushes, and some detergent or a bleach paste. make sore you schedule a couple of hours for this.
