We have an 84 with the same setup inside. your boat looks great! you will get years of enjoyment (and occasional anxiety) out of her. Good luck!

We are changing the name, so we gotta get the old letters off and christen her. Her old name was "Scots' Quair," which is a Scottish literary trilogy, I believe, but unfortunately, it sounds like someone commenting on a fellow named Scott's, ummm, orientation or lifestyle choice.....

I believe its bad luck to change the name of a boat.
Us seamen are quite a superstitious lot.
I also believe there's a ritual you can do to appease the sea gods for your transgression...

I'm not giving any power to some peeling vinyl stuck to the side of my boat. Would not even occur to me to do so.

To me it is no different than adopting a dog with an annoying name. You change it to reflect your own personality and life situation.
