I have a business trip next week to Bremerton, Washington. So, I am flying into Seattle on Sunday arriving around noon time. I would be interested in meeting Forum buddies and possibly sailing in your area for a few hours in the afternoon if that fits into anyone's schedule.
I wish I were going with you, Washington is really beautiful. I had the good luck to spend a couple of weeks up Puget Sound. When I saw how nice the water was and the magestic scenery, I wished badly for a sail boat to explore it.
I was going to lead a club cruise to the San Juans last month, but one by one, most of the other boats in the group (there were originally 10 signed up) canceled, so we ended up postpong the cruise to next year
I really love the San Juan and Gulf Islands, it's so beautiful up there. We have nothing comparable in California for scenic beauty except Lake Tahoe, and that's only one lake, 9 x 27 miles. The San Juan and Gulf Islands area is something like 50 miles east to west and at least 100 miles north to south.
I would like some day to spend more time in Washington but right now I will be busy each day except for Sunday. In the past, I have seen mostly the touristy spots of Seattle and many years ago took the Underground City Tour. Been on the ferry to Bremerton and spent some time days in the Bangor, Wa area and that has been about it. Maybe one day, I will get a chance to go camping in the surrounding area. My friend and I tried to get a reservation last year but I believe he told me that they have a lottery system for the camping on the Olympic Peninsula area or something like that and so we missed out. We wound up camping at the completely opposite end - Bar Harbor, Maine up in the Natl Park there.
As of now, I come into Seattle around noon time, p/u the rental car and then have the afternoon available. So...I may just visit some of the marinas or scenic areas before I head to my hotel. I'll be in Washington till Friday and getting home late Friday night.
