1989 Catalina 25 Sailboat – Wing keel design, very good condition. Always kept indoors during winter storage; the boat package includes trailer and an extensive list of equipment. During most of the 90’s it was sailed for a week or two in Lake Michigan each year and the rest of the season in Lake Mendota. The boat is rigged with special attention to long passages on the Great Lakes. She has been sailed very little since 2002. The boat is currently moored in at Marshal Park, Lake Mendota, Madison, Wisconsin. The boat has been owned by one person since 1994.

Detailed equipment list with boat photos and contact information is available at http://webpages.charter.net/compassrose/1989Catalina25.pdf

I'm looking for $12,000 for boat, trailer, fiberglass dinghy, and all equipment listed. Also available are a 1989 GMC van for towing, life raft, inflatable dinghy, and more. If you want a daysailer for inland lakes, this may be more boat that you need. If you want a well found boat that can carry you in safety and comfort, anywhere on inland or coastal waters, you will not find a better alternative.

What a beautiful boat, and it look's like she's led a great life since 1994! Good luck

Where were you last year at this time when I was looking for an '89!

Any chance you might be interested in selling the pop-top cover by itself? My '89 didn't come with the cover.

I have updated the detailed boat description at http://webpages.charter.net/compassrose/1989Catalina25.pdf

The file now includes more interior photos and a link to a boat video.

Hi Greg,

I like the replacement door you built for the head area and the improvements you made to the storage shelves above the seats (can't think of the term). Would you happen to have the measurements for the door? Would you consider posting the information to this forum?

If I lived closer I would consider buying your boat and selling mine simply because it's been kept inside and appears to be in excellent condition.

Thanks for your time!

Gary,
Thanks for your comments. I don't have the dimensions, but it's simply the width of the opening divided in half. If you look close you will see that the headbanger chunk of wood that the original accordion door hung from has been removed. The ceiling is clear.

Also, note that the backing plates for the side stays have changed. Instead of a 1/4" thick angle that hangs down by 2", it's a flat 1/2" aluminum plate. The backing plates are much less obtrusive.

I didn't notice the backing plates. It does look a lot better.

Do you happen to remember how thick the laminate for the door might be? I assume the bi-fold door swings back against the bulhead next to the head?

I think the doors are 1/8" masonite hardboard with white melomine surface. You can buy that stuff in the lumberyard as a cheap waterproof panel, sometimes used in showers or bathrooms. I doubled it back to back so both sides are white. The cabinet doors are 1/4" cherry veneer plywood with white Formica bonded on. Formica faces out, cherry veneer faces in.

I do recall that I had to create a special tapered trim to the door jam. I found that the left and right vertical sides on the bulkhead were not parallel. It's something you'd never notice with the accordon door.

Is your boat still for sale? I may be looking for a replacement after Hurricane Ike gets through with mine tonight.

Comgratulations on the sale. Has he/she joined the Association yet? Name?
Also, it would be a good idea to edit the title of this thread adding "SOLD"to it.
