Well here are 10 of the 160 photos we took. Hard to describe the beauty of the San Juans and Canadian Gulf Islands but here are some views.

We get lifted in at Anacortes.

Sucia Island Marine State Park.

Roughing it at Poet's Cove on South Pender Island.

You need to give these guys room!

Who said there is no wind up here?

Lots of float plane action at Ganges on Saltspring Island.

The Pub Bus at Montague Harbor on Galiano Island. It, and the Hummingbird Inn, are justifiably famous.

Sidney Harbor Marina on Vancouver Island is the best marina we have ever been to. Great facilities and awesome views.

We took the bus from Sidney to Victoria. Next time we'll sail here so we can dock in front of the Empress Hotel.

Our last night was at Spencer Spit State Marine Park. Crowded during the summer, we pulled in at 7:00PM and got a mooring easily.

I can't believe how fortunate we are to be just 350 miles from this cruising ground. We're already planning next year's trip!!

We cannot direct the winds but we can adjust our sails.

Spectacular! I wouldn't mind getting a little article for the Mainsheet, this is exactly what keeps many of us in trailerable boats. Let me know if you would be willing (November issue is closed, so we would have several months to work up a short article or possibly a feature) Spreading the word on the benefits of trailering would benefit the association.

So now we can call you an honourary Hoser. Way to go, eh!

I spent a couple summer cruising th eJuan De Fuca straits as a teen. Sadly most of thta time was spent chasing what teenage boys chase. i missed a lot of th escenery, but I still remember it being a great summer. Victoria is particularly impressive, although a bit touristy.

I'm glad you liked it! I bet you're glad you didn't have to buy much in the way of gas!

I wondered why we haven't heard from you guys and now I know. I really enjoy your photos and it gets me back on the Forum. I will be up there next season. Will do a lot of armchair cruising to get the plans together. Hope to see you.

Nice photos Randy. Just the trip I wanted to make this year, but my trip to San Juan's was canceled this year. I am not going to let that happen again next year. You should have had awesome weather though, we were hiking in the Olympics last week and it was great weather.

Thanx for the photos Randy.
My uncle lives on South Pender. Poet's cove is a great place to dive for scallops.
Last time we sailed into Victoria Harbour, there was a thin film of ice on the surface...that was two January's ago.
Sidney is also a favorite haunt...for reason's I don't question - there are lots of those kooky little pubs around there and some terrific micro-breweries.

As you alluded, it sure is a whole lot easier to deal with the gun toting officals on this side of the border.

Now that I've completed my trailer re-build (I'm still stinging from your comment about rusty C25 trailers ) I expect we'll be able to hook up on a west coast trip next season.

this is the dog and I discussing our sail plan for the day while docked about half a mile west of the Empress Hotel in Victoria Harbour a couple of January's ago.

Randy, I just looked at that first pic closely.

I had never thought about the consequence of lifting the boat off the trailer.

Your center mast support seems to do just the job of keeping the mast in place while lifting.

Any notes on that for future use?

Paul

This dog hates to sit around. When I sit down she puts her face in my face. One of the reasons she like the boat is that she can get in my face. literally - in my face.
this is winter sailing just outside Victoria Harbour.

Paul, the mast support (at the mast plate) works great. The main issue with being lifted is to make sure all boat-to-trailer connections are undone. The mast support helps keep the mast in place once the mast is untied from the trailer mast tower. The other tip is to observe where the lift straps go when they first get ready to lift. Mark those areas, under the rub rail, with tape so they know where to place the straps when lifting out. You don't want the straps to hit the speedo paddle, etc.

Hi, Randy, I am back on my feet and planning the next summer cruise. I did look at your pictures and wished I was there too. I did put my boat in our lake and have enjoyed sailing slowly at first and now can again do it all. I have the boat in really good shape for the cruise next summer and it comes back from the lake tomorrow and readied for winter. There are now two other boats that would like to come with me for the first experience of the San Juan's. I will start to make the plans on this Forum as it was such a great way to meet some of the other members. Great pictures.
