I'm trying to set the pad heights on a full keel trailer we recently acquired as a C-25 fleet trailer. Would someone please measure their pad settings for me, using a common point such as the trailer frame, to a common point under each pad? I'm most concerned about the relationship, or differences, between the center pads and the front and rear. For example, the rear pads need to be "x" inches and the front pads "y" inches higher than the center pads. Also, please place a board across the center pads and measure from that board down to the keel pad. No doubt I'll need to fine tune the settings, but this would give me a very good starting point. Thanks.

Dave - someone just did all the measurements for a wing keel about 10 topics below this one, could you add the difference in height between the two keels and make it work?
Yes, the one titled "Boat trailer." I'm studying that one, including the measurements with pictures for the wing keel rig and the measurements supplied by Terry, new owner of FellowShip, but I'm also hoping for a few more posts here from one or two more fin keel owners with a 6-pad trailer to compare results.
since the trailer pads will need to be fine tuned anyway, and a fin keeled boats sits on the keel and only uses the pads to stabilize the load I would hoist the boat onto the trailer and adjust the pads while the boat is in the straps.
No lift available unless we rent a crane. We'll be hauling out using cable/strap method, and using it for both fin keel and swing keel boats. My initial objective is to get it set as close as possible for a fin keel model, then we'll just lower the keel to the keel rest for the swingers (then see how light the tongue is). It's a 1977ish trailer. The posts for each pad have twin bolts that tighten down on the movable portion of the post, not the screw-type posts. I've currently got the center pads set about 1" above the fixed portion of the post, i.e. just high enough where the pads can swivel freely. I figure we'll have to get in the water, float a boat on, pull out just until the keel touches the keel rest, then adjust the pads accordingly. I'd rather be too high than too low; I can always shim it with a board.
Edit: I placed a 2x4 across both middle pads and measured 38" from the bottom of the 2x4 to the keel rest. Will that be high enough for the fin keel?
I am in the process of changing trailers for my 25 full keel as part of getting ready to move from Houston to Florida. I sold my old tandem axle and picked up a triple axle that I have to change the support configuration on.
I did take a lot of measurements from my previous trailer however, to allow me to set it up the same as the old one. I am in the process of cleaning up my measuring notes to make a sketch to use and can send you a copy if you are still needing the info....
