A local lake marina is gone, my Merit 25 used to be here but has moved so it was not lost. ...the blaze destroyed 11 houseboats, two sailboats, a pontoon boat and one speedboat.
Boats can really burn! Luckily all of them were on docks where nobody was going to get hurt. <blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">"It just kind of makes you sick because it was like a family out here, people would come out and sit in there lawn chairs and bbq and have a drink and visit and everybody knew everybody."<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">They still do, and they still can, and they can take the insurance and buy some new pontoon boats. They're fortunate. I can show the guy some things that should <i>really</i> make him sick.
I remember a fire not long ago that started on a cruiser when the owners left Christmas lights on and the boat unattended. Something shorted out or overheated and several boats were destroyed.
I got my nearly new mainsail, almost brand spanking new spinnaker, a stove, pop top tent, and some other stuff, from a guy in Canada whose C25 was lost in a marina fire.
