we went to the rhode island boat show in newport this weekend. and who do you think was there! FRANK BUTLER himself!! there were several sizes of catalina's from different dealers and right there with all the salaesmen wearing the same yellow catalina shirt was frank butler. we got to talk to him about the third generation rudder. we had mentioned that we had heard that some people had trouble fitting the new rudder onto their boats. he said that they had addressed some of the problems of fitting. and he said to be sure to order it pre drilled and it would fit right on. we of course had not seen one up close before. it really does fit right under the boat. we asked him about some of the tihngs that were not addressed in the owners manual and he explained everything to us. it was nice to acutually meet him. i was happy to see that the 2003 boat is pretty much the same as mine. a few changes. the fuel locker is now hinged, the hatch is solid with a small window, and the porta potty is gone. its now a real flushing toilet!! the edges around the sink are now teak and available from catalina. looks nice. and of course the sail covers are now navy blue instead of royal. and boy is that 28' a beautiful boat...(someday)... back to frank butler... i have heard some of you say that you have spoken to him directly on the phone and it is nice to know that he is a real hands on kind of guy...

We were at the show Saturday, but didn't see Frank Butler, perhaps he was in one of the Hospitality tents. I really liked the 310; but, if I win a really big Lotto jackpot the Lagoon 57 was a really nice retirement home...
