I know it's getting colder and weather system are here and the 25 is stored but we have moved up to a 34 footer. A 34 footer with wheels that we hope to leave next week in for Eureka and then on up North to Washington. Bruce, I will give you a call as we move up the Coast. Hope to look over the ports and enjoy the local food and color. The return will be on 5 so will check in with Randy. Any suggestions for stops would be appreciated as I have to stop for fish and chips at Lost Coast and there's 2 places in Lincoln City we've been told about. I'm just over 6 months with the new knee and most can't tell by my walk. It is just great to be back on my feet.

Jim, we just got back from our land cruise to Oregon in our trailer. Try the Crazy Norwegian in Port Orford for great fish&chips...its also a wi-fi hot spot for your internet connection. Hope the weather holds for you... we were fine for 2wks and then the rain started but managed to fish out of Brookings until Coast Guard announced they were going to close the bar to harbor due to gale and predicted 10-12ft seas...have a good trip...dave

Sounds like fun! We like Mo's Seafood in Florence (Old Town) and Newport. They have terrific clam chowder. There are very nice state parks along the Oregon coast and they will not be busy this time of year. The Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport is also very well done. Give us a call and we can get together on your return trip.

Dave, can't we get together? You guys are just on the other side of the lake. Thanks for the info from both of you. We have had a request from our oldest Grandson for information about Big Foot as we cruise through Willow Creek so we are going to Eureka and then up the Coast. Sounds as if I will get Fish and Chips at several places and with a sampler. I will give you a call Randy in about 3 weeks if the weather holds or sooner. We don't like the snow on the Siskiyou's so we will be watching the weather reports. We have had snow fluries most of the afternoon so we have to keep the heat turned on.

It was a great start with warm weather and the big engine running smooth. Got to Eureka and visited while sleeping on the street. Went to Woodley Island and walked the docks to see what was happening. Clam Beach had the boat there and the Sabina, a 48 foot wood hull sail-er that I helped build was there, she was looking in bad shape without masts and lots of work to be done. Picked up a port window that I plan to install in the Spring for light and ventilation at the small Marine store in the same building as the restaurant. Also visited the Marina farther South and found more sailboats.

Got a report from home and the temperature since we left was in the 20's each morning. Glad to be moving up the Coast. We stopped at several other marina's and shops on up into Oregon. Made a stop at Harris Beach and stayed. Could watch the Saint George's Reef Lighthouse having been there on a helicopter a year ago. Grand Dad, Jim Sweet, did relief there for 90 days and had to help tie up the Head Keeper to keep him from jumping off the rock, this was in 1899.

Then things started to change, the engine started losing power with a miss and the fog came in. Rain started about noon and the engine started to get worse. Changed plugs which got us another day then the miss came back. Changed the cap and rotor which gave us one more day and the miss came back so...turned around. We were heeling with the rain and now strong wind and the talk turned to getting back out of this weather.

Resting in Eureka again then limped back to the valley to our son's so I could do more on the discovery of what was causing the miss. It was not much fun anymore with the sick engine so we docked at the kids and used the dingy Toad to get back home to rest and evaluate the Cruise. We are now starting to talk about working toward a Spring Cruise when our 25 is still locked in snow. I will be also planning the Summer Cruise to the San Juan's. Hope to see Forum Members.
