My plans include two. The first being an all night straight shot from Cleveland to Kelly's Island. I'll be renting a cottage on the Island for the week and want the boat close by to do anything from Fishing to a cruise around any number of the Islands.
The second is a trip to Rondeau Bay Canada. I hear there isn't much there to do - but the way I figure things it is Canada so there will be a bar with Molson Canadian when I get there. That's enough for me.
What do you have planned for your cruising enjoyment this year?

Right now we're looking at taking a week off to go up to the pan handle and sail with the B.E.E.R. cruse 2007. As it looks as though it will cost us in excess of a grand (fuel, time off work, etc.) I suggested that we look forward to it as going on a 'Cruise' but a little more personal! All dependant upon Pegs getting the week off (Peggy is a nurse in a local hospital and in case you didn't know, there's a severe shortage of nurses down here.)
In July we'll probably take a cruise from BlackPoint down towards John Pennekamp State Park.
Before either of these two trips the new cabin table has to be completed!
Hope we can join up with a few of the forum members here in SE Fla.
Last year the big trip planned was a trip up the Sacramento Delta but it was scotched by work demands. This year the plan is to go to Catalina for a week in company with my sister and her family. They will be on a chartered boat and we will be living cozily with four of us on ours.
For us this is our second year owning Antares. No big plans except to explore more of Grand Lake where we keep the boat. I do have plans to have the bottom redone over the Winter months and that will involve a long (for us) trip up lake to deliver the boat.
Of course, my answer might be much different except for that fact that we are downsizing our home and building a new one. It is due to be finished in late July or early August. I swore I would never build another custom home because it takes up too much of a persons time, but here I am again.
However, I do get one benefit out of this. Since the new downsized house was the Admiral's idea, I get to look at a larger sailboat once we get settled. I am already scouring the internet for one even though it will not be for probably another full season.
Usually bareboat in the Abacos, Bahamas every spring. Taking this year off to do a boat trip down the Shannon River in Ireland. Power, not sail - but I'll probably survive.
destination? we don' need no stinkin' destinations!
Seriously, I just want to sail this summer. 2006 total was somewhere around 4 days, no nights away from the marina. kinda hurt after 40+ days and 3 weekend cruises the year before. I don't even care if I sail across the Neuse, anchor and sleep. There are 4-5 towns 4-10 hours away, furthest being Ocracoke Island. Hope to hit a few I can do over a 2-day weekend.
Dear Cruising friends, please take note of the already posted Catalina 25 sponsored cruises. If you are going somewhere why not take someone with you too? Take five association boats and there is money available for you to have a party. Please contact any of the officers for more info and fill out the cruise work sheet for funding. By the way I am already posted with two Traverse Bay Cruises starting July 28th, I would be happy for anyone to come along, in any boat.
I moor my boat at a private residence 9 1/2 miles from Ponce Inlet, FL. and am going to take it to Adventure Yacht Harbor http://www.adventureyachtharbor.com/ for 2 months just to enjoy the marina life a bit and cut my time to the ocean in half. Also would love to get away for a 3 day week-end to Mosquito Lagoon.
From Oceanside, CA: 2 Day Trip to Dana Point 4/20 (42 miles round trip) 4 day trip to Mission Bay 6/28 to 7/1 (70 miles round trip) 4 day trip to Catalina Island 8/2 - 8/5 (108 miles round trip)
Of course I'll be cruising the Santa Rosa Sound again this year on the BEER Cruise. I'm also planning to visit the Pamlico Sound area for a week or so. We bought some land on the Pamlico River and plan to visit there to see what kind of sailing I have to look forward to once we move there. We may try to coincide that trip with the "Pirates 2007 Cruise" with the guys over on NCsail.
Shouldn't everyone be going to the East Coast Catalina Rendezvous at Mystic Seaport in August. Might be a little warm but the party should be kewl. There are a lot of great anchorages and marinas to stay for a 1-2 week trip.

I'm just up the river from the seaport--you can't get a Catalina up to my place (the I-95 bridge is too low), but my boat can get down to yours! I might be working at the event as a Seaport volunteer.
John Vining and I have made tentative plans to sail to Isle Royal, in Lake Superior. He plans on trailoring his boat up from Sioux Ste Marie. We'll leave either from my place on Portage Lake near Houghton, Michigan, or I'll meet him some 40+ boating miles north at Copper Harbor, Michigan, and leave from there. No detailed planning yet but I think about 8 to 10 days - possibly two weeks, in the last half of June. Anyone willing, is certainly welcome to come along whether with their boat or as crew. So far I'm solo cruising.

quote:
I heard theres a place in Mystic that sells used boat stuff , Its suppost to be pretty big too . do you no the name ?

Know... I mean yes. It's "Boat Stuff" on Holmes Street on the east side of the river just north of the Route 1 drawbridge. Lots of consignment stuff and other junk--kinda fun to rummage through--not as big as Defender, though. (Defender is primarily a big mail-order warehouse, and only secondarily a store.)
o-my big trip, Oyster Bay NY , looks like a sand bar all the way in on the north side .With 15' of water pretty close to it . I figure its a 5 or 6 hour sail .

quote:
I love to drive the coastline!

I do it about every weekend--the opposite direction--it's getting old. On the corner next door to Boat Stuff is the S&P Oyster Co., a very nice place for lunch overlooking the river and seaport.
My brother-in-law doesn't like the water b/c he gets seasick and can't swim verywell. My Sister-in-law called him a chicken because of this, to which my three year old said "Uncle J - there aren't any chickens in the Lake, sharks maybe but not chickens"
Well my big trip this year [hopefully] will be on a 12 meter racing yacht at Newport R.I. I tried this last year but other people's plans got in the way. Would like to take the four people with me who have helped with "Brandy" and charter one of the older "America's Cup" sailboats for four hours or all day......
Not the "big" trip, but this next weekend we'll head over to McMicken Island (south Puget Sound), toss out the anchor and a crab pot, row to shore, dig some clams, gather a few oysters and have ourselves a little feast. (Scratch the crabbing - season doesn't start 'til June 18th) Maybe toss a line in the water.
Oh, and toss a few rocks in the water (favorite pastime of the kids).
