SO near the end of our first season I go down to the boat...around Oct1...and find it sitting on its keel leaning up against the dock.
It seems the water level dropped about a foot...the another 6 incheses a few weeks later. This ended the season for me because I could no longer get out of the marina. Took allot of wiggling to get in out of the slip too.

People I bitched to started taking about tides and winds affecting water levels.

Did any body else notice this major drop?
Is this a common end-of-season occurrence?

I don't know anything about Lake Erie, but Canyon Lake is at a historic low 10' below datum, and we have old cypress trees sticking out of the water all over the place - and some just under the surface

Yes Pete, it is a common occurence for Lake Erie water levels to drop this time of year. I pulled out a little early this year because water levels were starting to look iffy.

As for weather driven water levels, Lake Erie is in for a nice swing in the next day or so.

If I were still in, I'd be sitting in the mud.

When we pulled out on the Chagrin River (central basin) it looks like the lake is down 4-5 feet. Also, depending on the wind direction(east and west) and velocity (>10kts), the lake will rise and fall up to 3 ft due to its shallow nature.
