Hi, I live in WI so it gets really cold. On my 2004 C250WB I drained all but about an inch of water out of the fresh water holding tank. Then I pumped water out of both faucets until no more would come out. Do I need to do anything else to prevent any freezing damage? Thanks - Roger
I always added a couple gallons of RV antifreeze (pink Stuff) and pumped it thru until it ran pink. This will keep lines and pump from freezing. I also would pour some into the bilge and pump it thru until it spits out pink stuff to keep the bilge pump from freezing.
Yeah, what Frank said. I'd think that the most important part is to get the antifreeze into the lines and hoses. Those relatively confined spaces are more likely to suffer damage from water/ice expansion.
Make sure you buy antifreeze that is designed to be used in POTABLE WATER systems. The stuff used in your car can kill you.
You can get it at Walmart for about $4/gallon. The other "WM" had it 'on sale" for $6.95 when I was in there the other day.
What Frank said is very important. I faliled to run the pink stuff through all the way into the faucets one year and this is what happend under the sink in the head. We did not notice it until I was filling the fresh water tank in the spring and it kept filling and filling....needles to say the bilge area got a good fill of fresh water.
