Your officer's and staff are meeting tomorrow on Skype and all members are welcome.
If anyone would like to discuss the agenda items in the forum, now is the time.
Agenda
(1) Confirm staff positions: a. Mainsheet General Editor – David Bennet b. C25 Technical Editor – John Gisondi c. C250 Technical Editor – Randy Kolb d. Capri 25 Technical Editor – Chris McKillip (2) Discuss Hostway web hosting migration (3) Status of Ship’s Store (number of new burgees desired) (4) Discuss allowing members to opt out of the Mainsheet (5) Vote on allowing Treasurer to buy new bookkeeping software for $200 (6) Discuss showing paid/non-paid membership status on the forum (7) Change swap meet so that paid members only can post an item for sale?
I can't join the meeting but I'd just like to point out that if the Swap Meet is restrictied to paying members, then those same paying members will, perhaps, miss opportunities for bargains for their boats that may be offered by the multitude of C25/250 owners that are not paid members. If there's not a cost involved, why bother to change the current practice?
Is there a problem with the "swap meet" forum? Why fix something if it's not broken? I believe that to limit that forum to paid members hurts everyone.
The minutes will be posted soon but we voted to leave the swap meet as is. I misunderstood the proposal, which was to charge non members a fee to post items for sale. This was voted down. We will come up with other ways to boost membership.
We also voted to continue to make the Mainsheet mandatory. There will not be a membership option to join the Association without taking the magazine. Accounting as to which member gets it and which does not was deemed too complex.
If you're still looking for accounting software for use by the association, I can get Microsoft Money at company store prices, which will probably be around $50 or so, possibly less. If there's interest I can get the exact price.
Randy, just download Skype.com. You need a headset or mic and speakers. Provide your skype name to Paul who moderates and he will ad you in on the day of the meetings. Happy Thanksgiving! Steve A
