And from many days of experience, those two videos do not show the normal chop. Normal is 4-5 ft chop.

(Many days of cowering in the harbor on my stinkpotter)

I was sailing on Buzzards this summer on a Catalina 350 with a fractional sailing program called Windpath out of Kingman at Cataumet. At first I thought the 350 was complete overkill for bay sailing, soon I was thankful for every inch. You are lucky to be on Buzzards. There is so much to do and see! Let me know how it goes and I'll come up out of tame Narragansett and visit you.

The secret to pulling a dink on Buzzards is to let out a bit more line than seems reasonable. I towed a Zodiac most of the summer and had no problems. I always stored the engine on the stern rail though.

Vern - and all, my home port is Mattapoisett. It's an underutilized harbor for cruising and overnighting. It has good anchorage and plenty of moorings you can "borrow" for the eve. A great public dock and waterside eats, drinks and entertainment. Anyone interested in stopping by this summer just drop me a line.

BTW - Its open to the SE, which rarely occurs except for foul conditions (but thats another story!)

I checked out Mattapoisett on Google earth, seems like your port is not so under-used. Beautiful place!

Its underused as a cruising stop-over. I've turned on a couple friends from other ports, they can't believe noone uses it as a transient.

....Come on down!

My wife and I sailed into Mattapoisett last summer and found it to be one of the most wonderful sailing destinations we had experienced. The town seems to be completely oriented to the docks. We particularly loved those multicolored ladders. Have a great season.

I'm on the Marine Advisory Board for the town. We have three new, large tie-up docks (for embarking/discharging crew/supplies)being installed for the summer, as well as an overnight transient dingy dock. Theres always events at the wharf/waterfront. During 1 entire week in July (check the town website) theres a massive arts/food/music festival at the waterfront. Beware, Thursday nights (7-10:30) are teen dance nights on the wharf. They close off an entire wharf to teens, and bring in the DJ.....cool, yet scary and loud till 10:30.

Anyway, way off-topic I guess

We seem to have the same problem down here, many of the home associations are limted to 55 or older, they keep the teens out too!
