When we got down to SL yesterday to look for the Dremel & catch up on chores, we heard this persistent beep coming from the interior of the boat. I knew I had all the electrics turned off and couldn't think what it was. Rita was working on opening the cockpit hatch while I was marveling at how much dirt is deposited on the boat by the two cement plants that bracket our marina (it's stunning at times). Once the hatch was open, it became obvious that our CO monitor was beeping at us. Rita decided to go inside to check it out before I could stop her. She saw that the the monitor read "L6", and I rushed her back out into the cockpit. We opened the hatch & propped it up to air out the cabin. We had no idea what "L6" meant, but we jumped to the conclusion that it was a high level ("Level 6") of CO. We let the boat air for 15 minutes or so before going inside to get the manual for it to see what it meant, reading it in the cockpit. Turns out L6 is really LB (low battery). We put fresh batteries in it and it came right back to normal. We felt sort of silly after the fact, but better safe than sorry, huh?

I bet that as soon as you open the companionway the CO levels reduce to a level that are safe enough to enter the boat for long enough to determine the cause of the alarm.

Good to see that it's working! Just curious, how long did the last battery(ies) last?

Paul,
My first thought was that I'd have to wait to get back down to SL to check, then remembered I'd posted about it here.

I didn't check for link rot, so YMMV. If the links don't work, it's a 3-AAA battery powered CO monitor that I just happened to find at HD.
