I have an 80 Catalina 25 SRFK which we club race out of Everett,WA. I found a triradial spinnaker last summer, but don't have a pole to fly it. I can't afford a new one.

Does anyone have one they're not using, I may have something to trade or can offer you a few bucks.

Also, if you have any ideas on making one cheap, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks!

I got mine off an old Catalina 27. I traded a whisker pole that didn't work for the spin pole and a tiller extender. Forespar sent me new parts for the ends for free (they even paid postage).

Find some old nearly abandoned boat that once raced and offer them a 6 pack for the pole.

you can buy just the ends, they cost about $200. You'll need a thin walled 2.5 inch aluminum pipe 10 feet 6 inches long. Maybe you can find this at a scrap metal yard.

Don't even try to use some cheap paint roller or whatever. The loads on the pole can be thousands of pounds.

At a pipe supplier, a 12' aluminum pole should run about $100-$125, depending on prices in your area. Try to find the pole ends on ebay if JumB's old boat/pole idea doesn't work. The key is to get the end fittings first (and they don't have to be Forespar), then buy the pole with an inside diameter to fit the end fittings. The pole, with end fittings, should be equal to the boat's "J" dimension or 10.5 ft. Last year I found a clearance sale and bought 3 end fittings (needed 1 immediately) for our C-22 for $12.00. I had paid $20 each for the original 2 fittings when I made the pole, so I bought the 1 replacement and 2 spares. The pole was about $90.

Josh,
If you get down to the Seattle area, you stand a good chance of finding a pole at Pacific Iron & Metals. Give them a call before you go, it doesn't look like they've updated their website very recently, they're no longer on 4th, they moved quite a while ago.

I find all kinds of interesting stuff there when I'm scrounging around.
