Okay, I just can't hold it back. The admiral and I went to the hockey game tonight, Nashville Predators vs. Detroit Redwings. Never seen a game like it. We shut out the Redwings 8 to 0. The Preds scored 5 goals in the 1st period, the first 2 of which were in the first 3 minutes of play. Can't explain it. We usually struggle to score 3 goals in the whole game. It was awesome!

I understand completely. That's what makes last night so hard to understand. I was expecting it to be a really tough game. We even missed the first 2 goals because my wife and I were out in the lobby helping to collect book donations for the non-profit childrens' reading literacy organization she works for (last night was Book Night) as fans entered the arena. And it was a packed house, lots and lots of red clothing - so thanks to all the Wings fans who came. We even got a little bit of snow last night, but lucked out compared to areas around us. Seems like the last 2-3 years the winter storms sweep in from Memphis and curve around just below Nashville and move toward the mountains in east Tennessee. Memphis got 8" of snow, counties below us got 5-6" while we got barely an inch. And most of that has melted already and it's only noon. Supposed to be in the 60's next weekend.
One addition to my original post: The 5 first period goals were all in the first 6 minutes of play, and were more goals than the Preds have scored in the first period in the last 11 games combined.
