I got in a bind this month when I ripped the leech of my genoa. I figured that most sail makers would be so busy that my sailing season would be over. However, I called Cruising Direct Sails and they saved my season. They had all the sails in stock. I believe there sails are made by North Sails as well, but are highly discounted. Seems like a good idea to me...Good sails for less!
Shame on you! You shouldn't post phony messages on the forum, making believe that you are a sailor who's sailing season was saved by the wonderful service provided by Cruising Direct Sails, when you know that you are really a sailmaker, who works for Cruising Direct Sails. It's dishonest and it insults our intelligence. The following is a copy of the bio that you provided when you registered as a member of the forum under the name "Cruising Direct Sailmaker."

User Name: Cruising Direct Sailmaker Real Name: Anthony Kotoun More About Me Bio: I am a sail maker that works for Cruising Direct. We specialize in small dacron sails for weekend warrriors and coastal cruisers. We offer high quality sails and service and a very low cost.
It seems the only way to to get the bottom of this is to contact Cruising Direct directly and see if they condone their employees posing as customers. Use Anthony Kotoun's name and copy his posts both as a sailmaker and as a shill. Personally I think each of the membership deserves a new set of Cruising Direct sails for their boats don't you? I don't want to stick up for this guy, but I do know that I have never had a problem with my cruising direct sails. If in fact this guy works directly for cruising direct, then I too have a serious problem with this tactic. If he is a distributor then I have to question their screening process...
At any rate....I will be calling Chuck Allen in the Newport loft to see what the heck is going on...

Exacly, thats why contacting Cruising Direct is the right thing to do. I’m sure they are a legit company and will be more than glad to take care of this matter for us. This kind of nonsense could ruin their reputation. And if you contact Cruising Direct, tell them to shut down their spam campaign. The next time I receive one, they'll go on att.net's spam list, at which point they won't be able to e-mail anyone using the spam filters on that ISP.

Okay, guys...I sent my anti-spam email to Cruising Direct. I can't stand the meat product and I sure don't want it sliming up my emails. I'll be calling Ullman Sails of Ventura to buy a new 110 furling jib, thank you. Get it, Anthony? G. Norgan Hemet, CA A satisfied Ullman Sails sailor....
I don't know how to send anti spam e-mail other than to accept Gary Swensons ( ULLMAN) call confirming that my new 150% genny was being cinstructed as we speak.
And what about that Terry Watson guy refusing to be taken off his dismasted 23 foot boat after 70 + days adrift...CG gave up the search after two days....HMMM
Val, maybe this Watson guy hadn't paid his boat insurance premium lately and hated to part with his boat because he couldn't buy another??? Gary
His story has been all over the papers and tv news broadcasts. He looks like an holocaust survivor....wonder what his cholesterol numbers looked like ? Val on "CALISTA" # 3936
Val, Where did that happen? Out here on the west coast we just had a guy found and rescued after 4 months adrift in a 26ft Sea Breeze. He left Long Beach headed for Catalina Island when his mast broke. His radio was broke and his outboard did work either. He drifted for about 2000 miles to Costa Rica (sp) When the CG found him all he wanted was help fixing his mast and outboard. Instead they sank it and collected enough money to send him home on a plane. When word of this got out people began to donate boats and money to him....last I heard he was thousands of dollars richer and he was about to take ownership of a nicely equiped 32' or 36' O'Day.
The guy lost at sea as reported in the papers and T.V. news presentations here was a fellow from Homasossoa( sp ) Florida and was found 30/40 miles offshore of South Carolina. His friends reported him overdue sometime in mid July. Found October second..or there about.
Maybe it wasn't me that elbowed ahead of you at Ullman's but an avalanche of Cruising Direct customers reacting to an offensive tactic. Personally it's a ho-hum thing with me I'd have bought Ullmans sails anyway. How's that full lenght keel treating you? Think Catalina should try a model with one? Val on "CALISTA" # 3936

quote:
....and Duane, you now must prove that is NOT you
Duane....I don't think anyone was intimating that "tony" the sail guy was you. Earlier in this thread someone complimented the picture u you use with your signature...and you said " Never said the picture was me". That's what "Gnorgan" meant when he said " Now you gotta prove it's not you. He was referring to the Pirate picture. Is it you, prove it!
Oops! Sorry, Duane, if I offended. I did mean the pirate photo as GClarke stated. It was late, I was sleepy and in a hurry to send a few emails re: this thread, so didn't make myself clear. After all...that is a cool looking photo of someone..... The pirate, right?!
