I will be buying Adventure a new CDI furling system this spring. Which unit is best for the 25, and does anyone have any comments on the ball bearing package they offer. Is it necessary? Who has the best pricing?

If you are also buying a head sail National Sail in Florida has a package headsail with the CDI furler (If you call they may sell the furler and/or other sail options with it). All reports are go with the ball bearing version.

Glen,
The FF4 is the one for the C25 standard height rig and I believe will work on the tall rig as well as I remember shortening the extrusion by about 4'. You will also need some fairleads to guide the furling line back to the cockpit and a cleat to secure it. There are stanchion mount fairleads that allow you to route the line along the base of the stanchions and avoid drilling holes. Or if you are trying to save a few bucks you can route the line at the bottom of the stanchions using the bracing hardware as fairleads. I use a stanchion mount cleat to secure the line. You are going to love the furler.

Cheaper Alternative

Thank you for the information. Adventure has a CDI furler now, but it’s the wrong size. Meany years ago it was given to me as a gift, for some work I helped someone with. I knew it wasn’t the right sized drum (it has a very thin furling line 3/16th?), but it has worked well for years. The foil extrusion (I think it’s called that) has started to degrade, and it’s time to replace the entire unit with the correct one. It looks like the FF4 with the bearing is the way I will go. Again thank you for your response.

So . . . do some Googling and sell it on Craigslist and/or Ebay to offset some of the cost of the new . ..
