Folks - made it to the Cat today to commence painting, scraping and other fun tasks (shes on the hard 1 hr away). While my friend and I were working on Genoa halyard, we notice the top of the furler drum is cracked (you cannot see it in the pic, its where the red circle is)
Bottom line, I need to replace half of the drum....I thought this was a standard furler, but I can't seem to find info via the search engine here. Does anyone recognize the drum in the photo so I can contact the manufacturer?
I am not familiar with the unit you have but before I would spend $400 I would get some strips of fiberglass and resin and wrap that end with it. About 3-4 layers should make a pretty substantial patch. The extrusion should go quite a bit further into the furler then where the crack is located. If that doesn't work upgrade to a Flexible Furler FF4. Doesn't cost much more then the upgrade kit.
