It was a rainy first half of Sunday so Peggy and I decided to check out the Ponce Inlet Light House here in the Daytona Beach FL area. It was believe it or not the first time I'd been up the 203 steps in my 42 years here. There's a bunch of pictures here. There's also some pretty good photos of the inlet area and some boats racing off shore.

great photos. We should have a contest - submit photos of the lighthouses where you sail. I could chip in some photos of the Cabrillo National Monument, our own San Diego lighthouse on Point Loma.

That's a good idea Jim. I particularly like the lighthouses from the Chesapeake up to the North East but the ones that've been shown from the Pacific northwest are awesome as well, would love to see a collection posted.

Dave,
I loved your post. As you know, I'm very fond of your home turf....so much so that I'm writing this before I even looked at the pictures. I know they'll be great and and an enjoyable walk down memory lane.
I have taken the stairs to the top and back (once holding a baby) and I'm willing to bet this....the front of your thighs were hurting really bad two days after your visit.
Thanks for the memories !! I'm still have of my 250 hope to see you down here sometime.
Bob

Great pics Dave. I've only been to that part of Florida, not with a boat unfortunately, but I love it. How did you like that little retaurant (your last picture)? I really like that place, just because of the atmosphere.

Thanks guys, it was a fun day. Bob, Good to hear from you! I'll get down there one day, I really want to see that cool little inlet you use and I've never seen Naples ........... Ben, the view doesn't get much better than "The lighthouse Landing"! It's a great place to have a beer but I'd rather go to Boondocks for the food! I think Bob will attest to that, that's where we ate when he was up here in 07.

A look at The lighthouse Landing Restaurant

Right on both counts! Beers at Lighthouse Landings....food at Boondocks.... (One time me and two buddies brought No Ka Oi up to the beach at Lighthouse Landings for A BEER...while we were there the tide went out...oops..we accessed the situation and adapted ... stayed for MANY PITCHERS... then sailed a zig zag pattern back to her slip at Ponce Inlet Marina)Ben, I have a good buddy (lives in Pickerington,Oh)who just won an auction on E-Bay for a Catalina 22, (1976)..for about 2,000..he didn't think he'd win and now is stuck with a vintage Cat that he doesn't have a clew how to sail
