The rubber transom boot for the steering arm on my boat had a hole in it and I got the replacement from Edson. I thought it would be straightforward to put it back the way it came out-- mounted on the outside of the transom and then the center pushed back on the steering arm inside the transom. After looking at other threads, I see a picture with the boot not folded back but sticking out covering the steering arm.
It seems that is the better way to install because the hole I had in the boot was at the crease where the boot folded back into the transom.
I would appreciate any advice on the correct way to install the new boot.

It is priced like all things Edson. From Edson customer service: "The boot # 960-B-446 @ $46.00 is the one and only and it is available." You can see it on page 68 of the Edson catalog.
Also, the Tech person I talked to at Edson said to use marine silicone sealer around the boot. The stuff that is there now is not like any marine silicone sealer I have used.
"Thank you for your inquiry. I have attached part numbers and pricing to your components list. Please review them and feel free to e-mail me with questions. All are available and you may order direct from Edson. We accept Master Card, Visa, or Amex and our customer service number is (508) 995-9711. Let me know if you need further assistance.
