So, I am thinking of removing the old stove entirely and unsure what to do with the space. Was thinking at one time of setting up the electronics in that area:
-VHF
-Stereo

Anyone come across any creating ideas when removing the stove?

I put teak battens across the front and used it for what ever seemed appropriate at the time.

We replaced ours with one of those counter top ranges, and love it, but we have shore power at the dock

I removed the stove and installed a microwave oven which is used more for storage that for heating anything. Strapped on top of the microwave is my boombox.

I removed the PO's butane stove and installed a 12" high plastic catch-all bin that we use mostly for un-refrigerated food and supplies.

I've removed the original alcohol stove, but kept the cutting board. Using the space below the board for drink holders and other small item until I decide a more permanent solution.

John Vining installed a propane oven in that spot and did an awsome job.

Wow, John Vining did a great job putting in an oven/stove. I spend so much time sailing, and working
on the boat, that if I had an oven/stove, I wouldn't know how to use it.

I'd have to learn how to cook, or get someone to cook for me. hahaha right.

John,

If I removed the alcohol stove on my boat, I would probably put a small micro-wave in that area.

The VHF radio ---actually there are few areas in the cabin that make it any better than another unless perhaps it was located right up against the companionway facilitating it's use when single-handed sailing and in the cockpit area. My VHF is right now located behind the steps and that is not the greatest area if needed and I am in the cockpit. The two possible improvements I would consider for my VHF radio functionality would be to either a) Get a new VHF and locate it similar to where it is now but have an optional wired remote to it from a quick-disconnect in the cockpit area. That way I would have full functionality and be able to hear it from the cockpit area. b) I would leave existing radio as is and buy a portable VHF unit to use in the ccckpit area.

The stereo - Well, so far, my little mini-boombox is okay and easily stored out of the way when not used. If I were to replace it, I would probably try to build a stereo into a side wall adjacent to the quarterberth area...starboard seating area. Kind of get it off to the side.

From what I recall the times we have gone sailing, perhaps if you removed your stove, you could use that area for two purposes: Either a microwave, VHF or Stereo but if at all possible, build upon a base that allows also a storage area within it. You have a lot of supplies and what not and I just not sure where you will put some of the things. Removal of the stove provides options to accomplish a combo of benefits.

I removed the burners from the stove. THen pluged the holes with half inch bolts. Then i put a can of sterno in each side where the existing burners were. They fit there perfect. They are the larger sterno you can get at party stores. Ken
