Any Pics and/or great ideas about how to coax (out and then in) my new mast wire harness (on the way in the Mail) and a new antenna wire through the mast.
Decided to do more to Old Disco before the splash...read the previous threads...will see about any "drama" with the deck connectors (I hope not)...
Tie seperate retrieval lines to the coax, masthead wire bundle, and steaming light. When you use those lines to pull the new wires through, attach another line to to the wire bundle in case you want to pull something else through later. I removed the compression fittings at the spreaders to make it easier to pass my bundles since I covered them with pipe insulation. Re-installing is pretty straight forward: the small fittings can be positioned through the large hole under the spreader base and the large one can be taped to a pvc pipe (cut an arc on the end) and slide it up into position.
There's another post I did about how to fish the coax through the rubber grommets, but I can't find it.
As long as you've got the pull strings already in place, it's a simple matter to pull your new cable through (with two new pull strings to replace the one you used & leave a spare).
If you don't have the pull strings in place, you can fish one through your mast pretty easily. I recently helped another guy do exactly this on his 25. Took about five minutes to get the fish tape through, and another couple to pull the strings back through, then a few more to pull the cable. If you search for "fish mast", you should find the thread pretty easily.
