I managed to back my Mercedes into my VW Monday Morning (windows were fogged couldn't see very well). Fortunately it was a brushing hit, so there was little damage other than ego. The Mercedes hit the air dam on the VW & put about a 1" scratch in the clear coat that I'd like to fix. I've seen the annoying ads on TV where you can instantly fix it with a pen or something, does anyone have experience doing this? It's not noticeable enough for me to worry about it overly much, but if it's an easy fix, then I'm all for it.

The 33 year old Mercedes just has a boo-boo that'll come off the next time I wash it. Guess that's difference in three decades of paint technology.

David, I have too seen those ads and wonder if they are the real thing. I hope someone stepped up to the plate and bought it. I want to hear the results as well. I have scratches on cars and boat!

But seriously David, can you snag a fingernail in the scratch? That is the normal test to see if it will buff out or more serious work will be needed.

Oh yeah, it scraped away a layer, the "scratch" is probably close to 1/8" wide and kind of jagged.
