Very good to see I'll be in PHRF D with a couple of smaller boats that are at least close.

Very cool that they gave us a small boat class. But then the guys putting on this race have been cool from the beginning.
Now - how to beat them in a 66 mile downwind run!
One thing I've found, much to my surprise, is the Cat 25 is much more competitive well off the wind.
We got the tune up race around the Coronados this Saturday, and the long haul up to Dana Point on Thursday, race Friday/Saturday.
I am taking a fellow International Association member who has never sailed in the ocean on both events. Its either going to be a dream or nightmare come true for the lucky devil!
For years I raced against a Santa Cruz 25 and 40, an S-2 9.0, several Beneteau's and Tartans, and not doing particularly well against them. Two seasons ago, the club broke our fleet into two sectons, one at PHRF 198 and above, and one below 198. It was very nice to finally race head to head with other boats in a competitive fleet.
And you're right. In my experience, in down wind/off wind situations, our boats are very fast using a race spinnaker or asym cruising spinnaker.
