The admiral and I have been talking about purchacing a boat to live on and fix up during the months we visit our daughter in Portland. Does anyone have any info. on the live aboard situation in the Portland Oregon area. Are live aboards common in the area? Costs for dockage? regulations? etc. any info would be appreciated.
On the Columbia River, and on the Willamette near downtown - are live aboard docks. I am not sure of rates, I just walked the docks to see what life was like. The Columbia river docks are just behind the airport, some of the others on the Willamette had the tin roofs colapse last winter during the snowstorm, so they might be cheap open docks now!
Thanks for the info Sten. Yeah I heard about the "big" snow storm. They had about 3" and it tied up the city and shut down mail delivery for three days or more. Here in Michigan we don't even call that flurries. I'm still hoping someone who has lived aboard in the area will respond so I can get a feel for costs and benefits vs hassles.
