Ha anyone tried E85 in their Princess (pressurized) or Origo (non-pressurized) stove? Out here on the left coast, the cheapest pure ethanol is about $12 / gallon, sold as shellac thinner at Lowes / Home Depot. Alcohol stove fuel at West Marine is even higher, about $15 / gal the last time I checked. We are starting to see a few "alternative fuel" pumps at NorCal gas stations selling E85 and B05 (biodiesel) for around $2.50 / gal. If E85 has similar burn properties as strait ethanol, it would certainly be more economical than West Marine stove fuel, at 20% of WM's price.

15% gasoline in the pressurized "curtain burner"?? I'd say it'll be "curtains" for your boat. I wouldn't do it in the Origo, either--use them for and with what they're designed for.
quote:
If E85 has similar burn properties as strait ethanol...

Why would it? The gasoline is there for a purpose.
How many gallons of alcohol do you burn in your stove per year?
