This weekend I switched out my Tall Rig Mainsail with a Standard Rig Mainsail to increase the boom height for a bimini. I am happy to report it worked beautifully and allowed me to raise the boom overhead (I am 6'1"). I was expecting to notice a difference in speed and heeling but if there was any I couldn't tell. This weekend we had winds varying for light to 20 mph and she perfromed well in all conditions. I suspect that is due to the boat deriving most of its power from the headsail.
Anyone interested in in a TR mainsail?
I would highly recommend trying this is you are seeking higher boom clearance on your TR.
