There was a post a week or so ago that included comments about adding the ball bearing upgrade to the CDI furler. We have always thought our CDI furler took too much muscle compared to the Schaeffer Snapfurl we had on our C22. So, I ordered the ball bearing kit from riggingonly.com and they had it drop-shipped from CDI but at a better price than CDI - $125 with shipping.
Installation is not difficult but be careful about the little pieces jumping in the water! We were lucky and the assembly went fine. Would be easer with the mast down but still do-able with it up.
Sailed with the new setup last night and it is remarkable the difference this upgrade has made - well worth the $125. I don't know why they make the furler without the ball bearings to begin with.
We cannot direct the winds but we can adjust our sails.
Glad to hear the install went well and it worked to your liking! One day I'll make the furler jump but right now it's a little more than I want to spend.
