No Fog. I like that:) Finistere will be heading up the 27th, plan to arrive in SJ's on the 29th, and Sucia on the 30th. After that, no schedule for the next 2 weeks...

Ok we just returned home.
Heres a quick run down for those who know the San Juans in Washington
We put in at Washington park, Anacortes, found the ramp not very steep and hard to launch even with tongue extended but it worked, retreiving required 6 feet of heavy winching,(very glad to have rollers) suggest avoid low tide.
1st night James island(sea otters invaded boat at night), 2nd Rosario,(hit by hard times, few boaters) 3rd and 4th at Sucia,(not too crowded) 5th night at Roche Harbor,(Lots of pretty people and mega yachts, no recession here) visited sculpture garden saw several new pieces of art. 6th night at Jones Island, always our favorite, got a place at the dock, petted some deer, had a great campfire, finished last of wine.
We planned to whale watch in Haro and Juan de Fuca straight but gale warnings kept us on the inside
We saw more than 60 Orca's (Killer whales) in Rosario Straight.
Saw more Eagles on this trip than ever before. Shared three bottles of wine at Rosario for a ride to the top of Mt Constitution only to find the look out tower closed for repairs.
This was a shake down cruise to familiar waters with a new to us old C25. Other than lots of banged heads inside the cabin ("just shut up and don't tell me to watch my head" was a common curse)the boat performed well. We towed a 9 foot dinghy everywhere.
NO FOG NO FOG NO FOG

If you look close you can see us in the shadow of the big boys at Roche Harbor

Sounds like a nice trip! Ours started w/ myself and my two boys (ages 5 & 9) battling fierce northerlies up Puget Sound to Langley, and then the wind finally abated some and made for a great day of sailing across Rosario Striaght. Spent a great night in Fisherman's bay and had really good fish and chips w/ my boys at the Islander Lopez. Also met a nice couple and a dog on a C250, but I can't remember thier name or the boat's. Picked the Admiral up in Friday Harbor, the next day but realized pulling in that I'd lost the dinghy somewhere crossing San Juan Channel. Fortunatey, a nice couple had seen it and picked it up, and just happened to pull in a few slips down from us. Oops! After provisioning at Kings Market, it was off to Deer Harbor on Orcas for the night with the plan of heading to Sucia the next day. Big winds and 4 ft. waves put the Admiral out of her comfort level, and we turned around and spent most the day on the south side of Jones Island waiting out the blow, which is not a sacrifice at all! Made another attempt later in the afternoon to reach Sucia, but turned around again. By this time lost our ball at Jones, so another night at Deer Harbor. The next day's passage to Sucia was much better, 10kt. winds on a reach. Spend 5 days camping on Sucia on the isthmus between Fossil Bay and Fox Cove, which is a magical place! Also a great place for the kids to sail the Walker Bay! Watched the East Sound fireworks show on the 4th from Sucia- 12 second sound delay was pretty cool. Then...started to rain. Spent the next two nights in Friday Harbor doing rainy-day stuff like bowling. Also discovered we'd picked up a mouse on the boat at Sucia - not pleasant for my wife. Bought mousetraps and a little cheese, problem solved. Went the Swinomish Channel way home and stayed in Laconner, then Eagle Harbor (Winslow) which is a great spot we'd not been to. All in all, a great trip!

Thanks to Pat and Randy we were treated to their hospitality and it was a great send off up the highway. I hope we can cruise together, maybe on our lake too.

Well we sure had a great time and met the Tractor Boat and the Scotts and lots of other folks. Just had our trip to Sucia better than when Julie was 13. This trip I helped with the driving and showed up for meals. Daughter was in charge and I enjoyed it. Saw more places than ever and the eagles were flying.

My sister was not able to make it but maybe next time. Scotts and I kept meeting up until Nanaimo. Yes the wind did blow but used it to stay put in some nice places. The chop near Nanaimo off of the Straits was proof our C25's design.

Made friends with couple who are still up there for 4 months. I now text messages for updates on their trip.

Just got my lap top working as a problem I caused kept me off line.

Will work on pictures to share on the Forum.
