So who's enjoying these great long days? Last night I sailed after work in good breeze until about 8 PM, had the boat put away by 8:30 and it was still light! I didn't get home until 9:30 and skipped dinner.
I just put in on sunday but have been very busy with spring chores and getting ready to leave town for 10 days. We have a new grandchild due on the 24th. I hope to get out tonight.
Evening sailing is what we do most of. After work tonight we will head out to the lake, eat on the boat and then sail for a few hours. The part I like best is sailing back to the club as the sun sets. Absolutely beautiful and so relaxing. We try to get out several evenings each work week.
I wish, I wish . . . A week ago I fell in my backyard doing nothing heroic and ruptured my left quadriceps tendon, which connects the largest muscle in the body to the kneecap. Surgery last Friday, and a metal brace for 6 - 8 weeks BEFORE they begin physical therapy. This is far worse, in terms of pain and recovery, than my prostate surgery. So, pretty much my whole summer sailing is shot. My surgeon is a sailor who keeps his Sabre 32 in Camden Maine. He leaves for sailing vacation July 1: HOW DARE HE?
That will make Fall, which is the best time to sail on the Chesapeake, all the sweeter for me.
