This is located at the stern, just above the rudder. It's looks horrible. I saw where a "new" piece of plastic UV resistant "Transom Trim" was advertised on Catalina Direct for C-25's.... but my boat doesn't have a piece that looks like this. I'm not sure the Transom Trim is what I need. Can anyone help? I'll post another photo below taken from a little further distance.
Hey Murph, The little SS screw just forward of the rudder and the little holes at the corners are the key. There used to be a plastic piece that effectively "hid" the joint between the deck/hull joint...... which is what you are seeing. The sun's UV rays have destroyed the piece and it's gone (all but the screw). What you're seeing is crud that's built up over the years. Clean this all up and buy the new piece from Catalina Direct - - or fashion a new piece yourself out of teak - That's is what I did (the teak piece) and it looks great!!
Judging from the greenish color (one I'm all too familiar with here in the PNW), I'd guess that a significant portion of what you're looking at is mold. If so, it'll clean right up with Scrub Brite a green scrubby pad and some elbow grease. Then you can either order or fashion the trim piece to cover the joint.
