Is is possible/advisable to replace windows on a boat with ones that have screens as well for ventilation? Are there stock components out there for differnet window sizes or would every job be custom? I'm just thinking of the increased ventilation it would give you on a small boat.
I replaced both the smaller front windows with Lemar windows from an older Catalina 30, purchased from Catalina Direct, they open and have screens. You have to enlarge the hole about 2" in length and 1/2 in width, this really isn't too bad of a project and well worth it.
On the same note. . . are screen inserts available for the head portholes? I'm not talking about screening held in place by velcro. . . I mean wood or metal or plastic framing.
I too replaced the head portlights with Lewmars. Mine were a little closer to the original dimensions - enlarging the height about 1/8" and the length about 1". My screens are plastic and snap into the frames.
