Good idea Brooke...

Its actually 27 Days, so 3 weeks plus. 2 Adults, a 12 yr old, and a 15 month old. We'll have stories to share.

Of course you are joking, but some folks don't realize it...

We had some friends who did exactly that with a 6 yr old; towed her in a dinghy. They never realized they had lost her until a powerboat came alongside with the kid waving to mom & dad from the cockpit. Apparently she had gone over as the powerboat approached from the opposite direction. Lucky timing for the kid, Georgian Bay is a big place.

It looks like we won't be getting away until around noon tomorrow. SWMBO's grand-dad is in poor health, I need to replace damaged gear from the race on th eweekend, and we need to bottle 2 batches of wine. I think we can squeeze it all in with some creative planning...

Yes, Chris, I was kidding. On the other hand, I've heard many folks say that on a hot day, towing kids on a raft or tube so they can get splashed and cooled down is great fun for them.

Man, that's a terrible story. So easy to see how it could happen, too. I tow my 12-year-old son in an inflatable every time I've taken him sailing this summer. It's 7 miles each way by motor to reach the jetties from my slip, and this keeps him interested in going out. Alas, he likes it more than "the sailing part," which seems dull to him. He's too nice to say so, but I see it in his face. When we get to the jetties, I pull him aboard, stow the tube and put up the sails. It's extra work, but it keeps him interested. I have this Father-Son image in my head, and reality keeps intruding.

I hope your preparations are going well. Who would have thought that having fun could be so much work?

Hey guys I'm in the Vee berth typing this to you from Doral Marine - we transited the Trent with only minor damage, and will raise the mast tomorrow.

Can't believe we're out here!!
