I really love my Capri 25. It is the best sailing boat I've ever had bar none. I am also enjoying racing it and am doing pretty well in my phrf fleet. I am still just not real clean with the spinnaker. In fact I kind of came up with a jingle to get it up. I'll follow with the jingle but do want some advice on how to do things. Particuraily launching the shoot from the companionway.
My jingle is based on the skipper calling for shoot port or starboard, my feeling is that the crew must be able to complete the launch with no more instruction than that. The jingle is based on the foredeck guy driving the process
First Time with additional words
Loose -- Spinnaker Topping Lift Clip -- topping lift halyard to pole Clip -- clip pole to past raise -- raise spinnaker pole to desired height Clip -- after guy to spinnaker Clip -- sheet to spinnaker Loose -- Spinnaker Halyard Clip -- Spinnakker Halyard to spinnaker Raise -- lift her up
so the jingle is
Loose and clip Clip and raise clip and clip lose and Clip Raise!!
working on a youtube video but lost my camera
thoughts?

plan on your set before you start, prerig the pole on the fordeck, leave the topping lift off, The launch, fordeck goes forward, sets topping lift, pole raised, hayard is set as sheet is brought around forstay, jib hardyard let off, fordeck pulls on leach of genoa to run down the forstay, as rear of boat is adjusting chute.
Super fast sets. Be sure to keep genoa sheets on top of pole. Jibe, jibe, jibe, raise genoa, release spinnaker halyard, guy side takes chute back to bag, fordeck removes topping lift, genoa set and rounding mark, take genoa sheet in.
Has anyone ever tried launching the spinnaker from the foward hatch?
Previous owner of my boat launched from a bag attached to the bow pulpit. This works very cleanly for launching but is a bitch to repack on the beat upwind following a take down. I've only tried launching from the companion way once with just two people on board. Need to try it again with a full crew complement.
Forward hatch launch is messy, the major drawback is the 3' hole in the fordeck and the downhaul for the pole is always in the way of the hatch. If you have experenced fordech the launch can happen anywhere on the bot, he just has to make sure all the sheets and lines are run correctly. My favorite thing to do is set the spinnaker with out a pole, nice calm wind, nothing strong and play with adjusting the guy and sheet to control the spinnaker.
