I have a Marinco 12v cigarette style plug that I want to install, to power a small GPS mounted by the helm (not on a pedestal guard.)

Any ideas on where to install the receptacle? I was thinking maybe in the rear of the cockpit, starboard side, under the stern perch seat.

That's a good spot. I put my shore power connection on the aft starboard area basically where the bilge pump is located on the port side. If the 12 volt receptacle you have needs to be protected from weather then another option is in the coaming box. Only trouble with that is it may be a hassle for the crew to avoid the GPS wire.

That's where I've got my solar power hookup, a 12 VDC receptacle, my autopilot hookup as well as my pass through for my engine's battery cables. Other than Swiss-cheesing (can you verb a compound proper noun?) the fiberglass a bit, it's a pretty good, out of the way solution.

I put mine through the port stringer of the companionway steps, facing out toward the pipe berth. it's a short distance to the cockpit bulkhead where I velcro my gps next to the companionway. Sorry, don't have any good pics!
