While fully appreciating this is not the season for bottom painting...I can't help but mention a recent segment of the Sc (ience) Channel I saw that covered the bottom painting of commercial freighters - REALLY large ones - it's an interesting segment...but the point I found most interesting was that they only repaint these freighters once every 10 years! I also observed that the ship they brought into dry dock (a pretty cool maneuver BTW) seemed to be clean to begin with. SO...my question is why don't recreational boaters have access to the same product??

I would guess that it helps that those ships are in motion so much of the time and that they are moving through the water quickly.
