I live in Southwest Florida and am looking for a clean 25 or 250. I have about $10K in my budget. I'm an experienced sailer with about 25 years experience. If you have a boat that you are considering selling, please contact me. I may go a little higher for the right boat.
Thanks for your consideration,
Ron

I know that this one is a bit out of your price range but, If I was in SW Florida looking for a sailboat, I'd be sure to look at this one.

IF you'll accept my asking price I will consider meeting you in Biloxi MS (that's where I have my boat financed). You present them with a chek/money order, they give you the title (for the trailer..AZ is a non-title state for boats), and you'll have a C250. I'll even throw in the sway control hitch set-up.

See my previous post for pics...I'm going up to the lake this weekend, so I'll update the pics Sunday night.

Eric,
That's a tempting proposition. MS Streets & Trips says 678 miles from Biloxi MS to my house. I pulled a 23' Lockley Newport down here from PA. That was 1,000 miles. Let me sleep on that one. In the mean time, thanks for the offer.

John Russell, thanks for the heads-up on the 250 boat in Naples. I did see it before my posting and yes, it's beyond my budget at this time. I hate boat payments.
Thanks,
Ron

I'd say that $12k for a '98 C250 Wing Keel is a steal and worth the drive assuming you have enough tow vehicle. It weighs between 6,000 & 7,000 pounds including the trailer.

John,
Yes, I have a Ford Expedition that should have no trouble towing the Catalina. We just need to be sure the surge brakes work.

From the ad - "Cockpit floor is slightly soft and flexible. No signs of leaking through to the interior of the boat."

I would urge caution about buying a boat with a soft deck. That likely means core rot or a de-lamination of the core and fiberglass layers. Either means considerable effort to repair.

Also, no trailer.

Thanks guys, but been there and already made an offer on that; boat in St. Pete that Murray Yachts has, that is. It is a nice boat, but I got estimates of $800 - $1200 to fix the cockpit floor (and yes, it is very soft). And we know how estimates go - the top cost is usually the bottom. It's still on my radar and we were just $500 apart and I could sail it home.

That St. Pete boat <i>really</i> needs a full survey, although it's a positive sign that he's up-front about the spongy floor. And in addition to repairing that, you need to find and fix the leak that caused it--possibilities include the stern-rail, companionway sill & trim, coaming compartments, bilge pump (on the side of the cockpit seat)... Otherwise, the price/stuff ratio is pretty good, and '87 was one of the better years (not quite as good as '89).

Ron,

I have friend that has a boat he is selling. Would you be interested in a 1985 model? The boat is clean, has a new motor in the last year, and a trailer. It is a swing keel SR. The boat is in Cocoa Fl.

Let me know if this fits what your looking for and I will have my friend call you.
Regards,
Dave

Samuel, yes that Capri 25 is sweet! Two problems: 1. Lots of keel there; lots of skinny water here. 2. Lots of distance between Florida and Michigan and while the boat looks great, the trailer - not so much.

Ron, that boat wouldn't draw any more water than a C25 and for the price being asked, a person could buy it, have it shipped/trucked to them and still save enough to fill the ice box with libation and invite friends for an on-board dinner of grilled swordfish!

There's a C250 in Chattanooga, TN for sale at Privateer Yacht Club, asking $12k. I saw the boat when I was there about a year ago. Looked nice. Here's the link:

The C250 at the Privateer Yacht Club is indeed a nice boat...so, I put a deposit on it Sunday. The trailer is having new tires and brakes put on it this week, so hopefully I can pick it up this weekend.

I have a 1989 C-25 Tall Rig Wing Keel for sale at a price close to your budget. The boat comes with a E-ZLoader trailer but the trailor needs brakes. The boat is in very good shape, clean, and with many extras. I live in Ohio BUT the boat is in KNOXVILLE, TN. Contact me off line at 865-441-4244 (Cell), 440-984-7189 (Home) or glittle48@gmail.com.

I'm on my last sailboat (my age and agility), and it is a 1986 Catalina 25 that I have had for 3 years. It is moored at the Coconut Grove Sailing club, cleaned monthly. It's in good shape, new main and Yamaha 9.9, doesn't leak, more. I am not actively selling but would for a fair price. Chuck/Ciguena@aol.com

Ron,
I sent you a PM to let you know that I am going to sell this C25. The Admiral wants a bigger boat...wow, and I thought I would get the disease. Anyway, I have made many changes to her since the original listing (shown above) was posted. I have redone the bright work and pulled, refinished, and reseated the handrails. It has a new porta potty with electric flush, and I have fabricated a queen size bed frame for the main cabin using an air mattress....almost forgot, there are window curtains as well.

Topside, a Harken furler has been added with a new forestay and a 150 Genoa. New steaming light, running light, masthead sheaves, and new tiller. I have the old tiller that I can include with the sale. Nothing wrong with it, but it is a straight model and I wanted one that curved upward to allow for more knee room.
I also have parts in stock for replacing both water faucets (galley and head), the kit for pneumatic lift for the pop top, and a new circuit breaker panel for the electronics. They just need installation.

This boat has been fresh water only and is in great shape with no soft spots on her deck.

Let me know if you are interested, and I will be glad to take pictures of the changes I have made.

Ron, there is nothing cleaner than my boat. I will let the ad speak for it. Feel free to contact to discuss. it is on Lake Erie and at the price that I am selling it for you can afford to have it hauled to your door step.
