Mike and Scott both boats look great. Thanks so much for alerting me to your sale. With 1,300 and 1,200 miles respectively between my dock and your boats, shipping would be a big expense for me, with estimates at about $2+ per mile. So for now, let me keep your boats in mind, and I will make a decision before the snow flies in your locations. By the way, snow never flies here in sunny FL. Thanks, Ron
AT LAST! I found a boat that I purchased last week. It is a 1995 250 WB that is absolutely pristine. It has been used for no more than one year and has spent the rest of her life under a tarp, on the trailer. The interior is excellent and the sails are as crisp as when new. I bouht it Arkansas and trailered it 1,100 miles here to FL. It just needs a coat of wax, some electronics and we are going sailing again. Thanks to all that gave me leads and offered boats their for sale. I found this one on the Catalina Owner's site.
Dave, Yes it was a long haul, both ways. Two full days drive to northern Arkansas and 2 1/2 days back towing the 250. But it was worth it. As I said the boat is in great shape and hopefully will perform as good as she looks; price was good too. She needs a furler and and the only electronics aboard is a depth sounder. I bought a VHF radio yesterday and I have a very good GPS to install. Now is I can just find some time, I will be all set. I'm looking forward to doing the work and getting her in the water. I'm luckly to have a boat lift waiting for her, so she will sit high & dry. I have a 2003 Honda 9.9 that I bought from Craig's List about 2 months ago, ready to power her. The Tohatsu 8 HP that she came with looks new and is going to Craig's List for sale. Thanks for your comments, Ron P.S. she is hull # 82.
Ron, You may want to do some homework on that Tohatsu before you sell it. The 8hp is essentially the same as the 9.8, but has been been designed for lower RPM and higher torque (lower pitched prop), which is exactly what you want. If it's not a four stroke and the Honda is, that's a no brainer, but if they're both four stroke, the Tohatsu might be a better engine for your boat. Especially if it's an XL shaft. I think the Tohatsu XLS is an inch or two longer than Honda's, but don't quote me. I know mine's 28.5" long.
Congratulations on your new boat, it's going to be fun!
