I've read all the threads about rusted keel bolts and cast iron keels, and I have decided to clean the nuts and bolts in place and then coat them with something. It seems like oxalic acid is the preferred cleaning agent. I've seen it spelled several different ways, so is that the right stuff? Is it better to remove the rust or use something like Rust Reformer? Several people recommend bitumen to coat everything after cleaning. Is this just roofing tar that you can buy at a home center? Thanks.
