To me it looks like you have to get past teh S. Ewing Street bridge, and then you can raise the mast. would you fit under there with the mast down? There are some here who raise their mast while underway, maybe you could lower the RPM on the OB once you get past teh bridge, and then with the help of good crew get the mast up before you reach the open water of the lake.
I wouldn't do this except on a day when it was pretty flat water, and I am part nuts. Ask my wife.

The bridges between Point A and Lake Michigan all raise on demand so no issue there. The issue would be getting back down the Chicago river to the marina (no bridge lifts through the Loop).
Thanks for the advice on building out the support, I think I am crazy enough to give the canal route a try.
