We're thinking about going to the Florida Keys during the week before Christmas and would like to charter a sailboat for a few days. We've been to many charter company websites and they are all very expensive. Anybody have any other resources for that area? The Moorings and Sunsail are two good looking companies, but they don't have anything in the Keys.

If you find out, let me know. I usually head down there at the end of Nov, early Dec for a sales meeting and wouldn't mind finding a resource for sail rentals.
Water in the Keys is extremely shallow. Make sure to have up to date charts or a chart plotter just in case.
I've had these two web sites bookmarked for years. One is Practical Sailors review of a Balboa 26 and the other is the charter company that owns the boat that PS reviewed.
I can't tell you one way or another about The Pagan Fleet located on Marathon Key. I have never contacted them. Hope I was helpful.
My family and I rented a C25 on Biscayne Bay in Miami several years back, but the only catch was that we were unable to head south into the main part of Biscayne bay, so we went north, not south as I had hoped. We sailed around behind Indian Creek Village and Normandy Village. Nontheless, we had a great time.
I checked the map for ARCMiami's location: 1275 NE 79th Street, Miami, FL 33138 and it appears you might have a hard time making it south to southern Biscayne Bay (south of Venetian Causeway and McArthur Causeway). It appears the main ship channel is the main barrier there, but I guess if you're determined....
I would like to bareboat from Key Largo down to Bahia Honda and do some camping this winter.
We looked for a charter last year and decided to tow 5,000 miles round trip to Marathon, It worked out great! While we were there we were next to Pagan Charm the charter boat listed in a previously provided link. I was impressed by the poor condition of the boat and was glad we had not chartered her. There was a small charter outfit on the north side of Marathon directly across from Marathon City Marina (but on the west side of the island) They had several boats and one was a Catalina 30. All the boats seemed to be in good condition. Sorry I don't know the name or prices.
